Help with SMD rom hacking

Hello to all the people of Elektropage.

I'm mustly a SEGA game colector rare and unreleased and can even have have access of official games source code.
I'm not exactly a beginner in rom hacking, but...
I have done translations mainly of SMS roms to my native language. Now I'm starting with SMD rom hacking I'm understanding the translation stuff but I want to proceed to the modification of the graphics on SMD roms too.

I know the basics the Tiles stuff. But must roms are compress...

Right now I'm looking at a tool named SonED2 great tool but it's for Sonic games only OR can it work with other game roms?

Can someone give me hits&tips about this topic?

Ok you know tiles. Yes most of ROMs using compressed data.

What topic? You said you know about tiles, and you know about general. Graphics romhacking is changes of tiles.

I don't understand what you want. Make more detailed question, about some particular thing.

And, also, it would be nice if you tell us what game you hacking.

I want to hack the game Super Monaco GP.

- Want to update the names of the drivers and teams for the 1991 season (working on it, it's like translations but you only change the name)
- Want to update the Drivers photos to the correct 1991 season (here is my problem still don't know how to do that)
- Want to update the colors of the cars (still don't know how to do it too)

Team names are 16, big leters

Find code which loads it. You need knowledge of M68k assembly. Use debugger & RAM Search for that.
Also, if it's compressed, you'll have to write program to make compressor, except if it uses known compression method.

Hmm actually you may try all known compressor checkers on this game. I mean, for example, if you have some "searcher of Nemesis encoding" or "searcher of RNC compressed chunks" you can try that stuff on it. There are many compressions discovered already, so it might be any of them. or custom one.

Super Monaco GP uses the Nemesis compression. I will try my best alone to see if I can get the work done. If I can't I will contact you.

And I see now too that more then one compression format is used in some games.
